Website migration, microsite design & build and development of a multi-site CMS

Iceland Banner

Brief

Iceland wanted to:

  • Move its current websites to a new ASP .Net platform for long-term stability and growth.
  • Have access to a user-friendly, fully compatible CMS which would give colleagues control over content on the sites.
  • Develop a new microsite which reflected the brand and the benefits of its Bonus Card reward scheme.

Red Ant strategy

  • Develop a plan in conjunction with Iceland for the migration of www.iceland.co.uk and associated sites.
  • Develop a fully-integrated microsite for its Bonus Card reward scheme.
  • Establish requirements for CMS and its users within the company.

Tactics

  • Build new sites, using existing website data where possible to extract content.
  • Set up redirects to point to new sites.
  • Develop bespoke, feature-rich  version of Colony, Red Ant’s web-based CMS, including:
    • Online editing and management
    • Page creation
    • Image, flash and file library
    • Breadcrumb trail
    • Site search
    • Store Finder
  • Design and build Bonus Card microsite, allowing users to check their monthly prize draw entries, savings balance, take part in surveys and take advantage of a range of member benefits.

Iceland is one of Britain’s fastest-growing and most innovative retailers, recognised as one of the best companies to work for in the UK. With over 750 stores, Iceland thrives in a highly competitive market place by offering customers the best everyday value in frozen foods, which is underlined by their round sum pricing policy. Iceland commissioned Red Ant to migrate three of its existing websites onto a ASP.net platform, allowing greater potential for growth, and to develop a robust and future-proof content management system, which Iceland colleagues would find simple to use across all sites. Iceland also required a new, feature-rich microsite to enhance on-line customer engagement with Iceland’s reward card; Bonus Card.
